He did it because he'd been stuffing bread in his mouth and that meant he was feeling healthy enough to eat something other than yogurt. David has been sick for a week. His fever hit 102 under the armpit, and he has needed to cling.
David threw all the c.d.'s out of the stereo cabinet. Only possible because he didn't need to cling for that minute. Also only possible because I left the stereo cabinet unlocked, but you know. David screamed for two hours straight last night. I don't know why. But, it was a part of the night I wasn't trying to sleep myself, and he took a three hour nap today. Do you know what you can get done in three hours?: 20 minutes of actual work for pay; 12 thank you notes; 3 business letters; time alone in the bathroom; a nap. The daddy died. Not anybody's real daddy. Rose and I were playing "I'm the mommy. Thonava and Babydoll are my babies. The Daddy died, and you're the new other mommy. This is Thonava and Babydoll's first time meeting you." I got to try to win over Thonava who was very nervous about the new mommy. Babydoll took to me right away. Rose had a temper tantrum. She got up on the wrong side of the bed and was whining, crying, complaining and carrying on about t.v. before John and I were out of bed. I said, if she woke David, there would be consequences. She woke David. The consequences were natural and immediate—I left to nurse David. We let her do her thing until I was done nursing. I came back and we cuddled. It was all by the book. Rose ate green food. Not an actual vegetable, but she and her daddy put green food coloring in the gluten-free rice krispie treats that they made for the St. Patrick's Day party, and Rose ate them. Any day Rose eats a new food is a good day. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
