I’m not saying whip out the chapter books, but just these last couple of weeks Rose went from ponderously limping through level appropriate books from school to being able to pick up any level 1 reader in our house and reading it. She read Are You My Mother?; the entire Disney Princess book, which was level 1 and level 2; and even more exciting for me, she read the directions on her I Spy cards, so she didn’t have to be asking for my help every two seconds. Yesterday, we had an hour of quiet time, part of which she read Gossie and Friends to the rest of the gang. That magic door is opening.
