the forty-five minute temper tantrum in stereo

Yes, we knew this was coming. The big post-holidays crash. Heck, school hasn't even started up again yet. I guess we're precocious.

Actually, it wasn't so bad. I mean it was seriously loud. David sat on John's office chair and screamed about wanting to watch more scenes from the Wizard of Oz. He particularly liked the witch melting. Rose lay upside down on the couch and yelled, "You don't love me! Nobody cares about me! Don't leave the room!"

But I just laughed at them and went about my business. I learned from years of Rose's temper tantrums to ignore the commands and the button pushing claims. David, however, had a few tricks up his sleeve I hadn't learned.

David was miserable all morning, and even if he appeared to have it together, if left alone for a second, he was bad. We had a great time sweeping and mopping the living room. And then I returned from a quick trip to the garbage can to find him mopping the coffee table. Luckily, it was Murphy's oil soap and water, so no prob, but it's the thought that counts. He knows to keep the mop on the floor. His incredibly contrite "sorry" after destroying Rose's half done puzzle didn't hold any water either. We didn't punish him for it though because I figured I should have known what a wreck he was and not provided the opportunity for screwing up.

Our best times were the tricycle ride to the store and John had a lovely time with him taking the bus to the Children's Museum. Rose also had a dandy time at The Wizard of Oz. Lesson of the day: get the grumpy children out of the house!
