I never did get a systematic understanding of the poetry pantheon, and I'm trying to rectify that. So, I read lots of poetry and if I'm good, I even write little reviews for myself to remember the poet's subject matter and style, but I want a way to organize all the material. Here's what I want to do, and maybe one of you knows a nice software program that will help me do it.
1. Create a timeline. Best case scenario the program provides the highlights of what was going on in the world and I get to add in the poets as I read them. 2. Add commentary. I should be able to click on any of the poets or books and see my comments. 3. Network the influences. This is where it gets complicated. I want to create webs of influence showing genealogy (A studied with B who studied with C), influence, friendship, schools of thought, etc. I know there is a webbing software that I used to use to teach my students how to freewrite. I can't remember the name, but something like that might work. I know my readership is just full of poetry reading technowonders. Can you help me out?
