Rose's dance performance

It was basically bearable. There were no huge technical glitches, they kept the pace up, the costumes and the theme (circus) were charming, and David did not demand I answer a million questions as he sat on my lap, just dozens, particularly "Is it starting now?"

Oh, wait, there are grandparents reading. I mean, it was charming, delightful, lovely, and John filmed all the highlights, so the grandparents will get to see Rose in all her glory.

I like this dance class. It's cheap and low key. The teacher emphasizes what I consider important in dance--movement quality, musicality, connection to a partner, awareness of your body and how it is moving in space, i.e. fast or slow, high or low, sharp or smooth.

I like that they have a performance. I think putting together a show focuses learning. I watched several of the rehearsals. The kids were really working on learning the choreography and following directions as well as adopting "the show must go on" attitude. (This got put to the test when Miriam fell down and then got herself up, put a smile on her face, and kept dancing big. I was very proud of her.)

I like seeing my gal all dressed up in her costume (multi-colored unitards this year), and obviously giving it her all.

I don't like the bad energy that floats around our house because she's stressed and excited. We had to send her to her room several times today for pull yourself together time. And there's only so much child level performance I want to sit through. Since I have another fifteen more years of it, I think bearable is a perfectly fine place to be.
