Laura Ingall's dog just died. Rose came to me crying. She's read three Harry Potter books. She's read countless stories of orphans. She's read a book where the girl's mother has cancer and can't pay enough attention to her, and this is the first time she's burst into tears. I completely get it. Heck, I was crying over David's book this afternoon. Jack matters. Laura matters. Good books matter.
