good moments with David today

David is sick which makes him grumpy which makes for a hard day. So, we are going to remember the good times today.

David called from his room. Mommy! Come find me! His room was a total wreck--action figures all over the floor, stuffed animals piled on top of the action figures, books spilling off the night table and the bookshelf and the pile next to the rocking chair, and a ball of rubber bands in the middle of the bed. I couldn't find David. Really, as a four year old, he usually hides in plain view, but there was no suspicious lump under the blanket, no tush sticking out of the pillow corner. It took me several seconds to notice the stuffed animal drawer was wide open, and one of them animals was wearing a blue Mariners t-shirt. David and I were both quite pleased with him.

At pick-up from Sunday School David waited his turn to climb on the puma statue (which has nothing to do with Judaism, by the way. Sunday School doubles as a private high school whose mascot is a puma), did not object to Rose sitting in front, and when he saw Rose slide off the tail, got back on to slide off the tail without complaining.

David and I were playing kitchen. He cooked me a watermelon sandwich with onions.

David and I were playing Daddy and child. I was the child. I stuck out my tongue at him. He said, "I don't play with people who stick out their tongues." Hmm. . .wonder where he'd heard that?

David asked me to read to him over lunch, and I did. David asked me to read to him while waiting for the company, and I did. John asked me to distract David while everyone else tried out the keyboard. I said, David do you want me to read to you? And he did.

David wanted to put bows on Daddy's birthday present. I explained he would need tape circles to keep the recycled bows on. He brought me the tape and asked me to make the circles. We got our own little assembly line going.

He ate all his meals. He did not complain about going to Sunday School. Bedtime routine went smoothly--all places we could have had problems and didn't.

As per usual, we had lots and lots of hugs and kisses.
