David has gone insane over The Magic Tree House Books. Gaga, nutso, obsessed, completely and totally fixated. There are 35 of these chapter books, and he wants to hear them all, over and over again. Mom Mom, Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa Jere, Rose, even Miriam have taken a turn reading to him. And so has the author, Mary Pope Osborne.

She personally reads all her books on c.d. And thanks to the miracle of the public library cd collection, she's been reading them to us in the car, over lunch, after rest time, as David paints his new volcano, during Rose's piano lesson. . . I had to keep telling myself it wasn't cheating.

It was not the same as parking him in front of the t.v. as I parked him in front of my iphone and proceeded to get my work done. Really, I got an extra two hours of concentrated work time today because David was sitting on my bed listening to adventures with Morgan and Merlin. I just have to periodically say, "It's going to be ok" as he starts moaning "No, no, don't do it!"

I love that he's so engrossed, and I really love having Osborne help me out.
