Rainbow Shell 5/11/10

The shell looks plain to me
until I see it--
the rainbow. It's pink
and orange, gliding
over white clouds.

Raindrop 5/27/10

A raindrop falls
down,
down,
down
while
others of its kind
drip
drip
drip from trees
down
down
down
it falls
until
ping
it hits the ground
and melts
from a raindrop
into
a running stream

Rubber Band 5/10

stretch
on to the hook
stretch onto the hook
stretch onto the hook
then
zing!
snap!
ow!
broken rubber band

Inside My Heart 6/4/10

Inside my heart there are
a thousand fireworks going off
red, white, and blue
also inside my heart there is a
big parade with lots of clowns and balloons
and popcorn and jugglers
inside my heart also lies
a classroom full of kids working
together.

5/3/11

Calculator takes
a picture, then falls to the ground
in the slush.

Inside My Heart 5/9/11

Inside my heart lives
1 pullover done by me,
piano keys playing Edelweiss
fully
for the first time,
28 yellow, blue, and purple horns
blasting for birthdays,
and 1 finished MSP booklet in front
of me.

Camera 5/12/11

The camera
takes a picture.
There's a glass circle
on the front.
It is the lens.
The camera
can turn on and off.
It has lots of buttons
saying menu,
o.k.,
and pictures.
You can say focus,
zoom in,
and zoom out.
A small dent on one side
where it slipped out of someone's hands
and fell to the ground.
The memory card
slips out
lost,
like a memory
of an old friend.
The dent grows
like mean words will grow
in someone's throat,
and the lese
shatters
like a heart will shatter
at the loss of a parent.

Games 5/16/11

When I was playing four square,
Jing suddenly called "bus stop"
We ran to the middle.
I'm out!

When I was playing Mouse Trap,
I took two steps.
David turned the crank.
I'm captured!

When I was playing Monopoly
the other player took a step,
landed on my property.
I win!

Simile, Metaphor, Figurative Language 5/17/11

Confusion is like a tree
all nobby
at not knowing where to grow next.

Confusion is a tree with vines
hanging down,
so you can hardly see it.

Confusion grows nobby,
so that I don't know
where to put my foot
as I climb.
