Yeah! We had a great time! John and I agreed it was our best trip ever with the kids. the overview My sister gets all the credit for planning this trip. As regular readers know, my cousin Chama died recently, so the family was all together at her memorial service. While it was wonderful to be with them and share our love of Chama, my sister thought we should get together for other reasons as well, like just because. So, she managed to find a week-end 7 different families were free and organized a trip to Legoland. Well, Legoland, Legoland Water park, the beach, the Skirball museum, and hang out time at my aunt and uncle's. Because, my sister does not plan small. Legoland Legoland was great. You don't have to be insane for legos to be in awe of the planet Endor built up brick by brick. (Star Wars and Legos, an unbeatable combination.) Not to mention Einstein's head, Washington D.C., and an entire safari of animals. I was in awe of the technical and physical labor involved. The rides are all geared for the 10 and under set, and all our kids are between 1.5 and 9, so perfect. I like low key roller coasters. I like spraying water guns at my neighbor. I like water slides. We never had to wait in line too long. And I especially liked how interactive the rides were. You didn't just sit. You sat and pedaled. Or sat and pumped. Or sat and aimed your laser gun and shot. The 23 of us did great ameba like movement. We came together, split apart, never freaked out about finding 10 more people before we could move on to the next event. I would have been happy to let Rose explore alone, but there were also plenty of other adults for her to join if David wasn't allowed on her ride. David was, in fact, tall enough for all but two of the rides. And unlike previous amusement park experiences, he did not freak out. He was not overwhelmed by the crowds or the noise or the constant sensory input. It makes such a difference in my stress level when I don't have to spend 45 minutes convincing him the Dragon really will be fun. He was racing up the trail ahead of me.
