It was really a master class in how to do a reading. He was incredibly well organized, his introductions did not overwhelm the poems, they flowed thematically and in tone, and, duh, the poems themselves were fantastic.
I have loved David Wagoner's work since the mid-eighties. Sometime in high school a teacher, perhaps, Judy Lightfoot or David Nash, introduced me to his work, and I was enthralled. I love his matter of fact voice, and I love that he is writing about my world, the Pacific Northwest. I have a memory of reading "Staying Alive" aloud to my mom as she weeded. I am really happy I joined the community in experiencing this reading. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
