This may be a first. My family does not do transitions well. Well, I can't speak for John, but Rose, David, and I have trouble with them. In the past, this has manifest itself in constant complaining, a need to be constantly entertained, refusals to self amuse or engage in the glorious activities I have planned, and out and out rolling on the floor kicking and screaming tempter tantrums.

This year there has been a little bickering, a little anxiety about how fast vacation was going, a little picking of fights, but basically, it's been really pleasant. I don't know why. Of course, the kids are a year older. But we still had some long days with not much planned, and the kids read their books, built legos, played games, and survived even though they needed more exercise.

I've been sick since the first, so I am incredibly grateful for good attitudes and the big hugs I've been getting.
