The disadvantages are obvious: sitting in traffic, having to concentrate when you are tired and hungry, loud boring conversations about Minecraft. But the advantages are hearing the kids talk like you aren't there. The gossip. The secrets. And sometimes the advantages are them playing happily with you.
I picked up five kids from Hebrew school last night and somehow we started telling terrible jokes, the type of terrible jokes that I love like "What's brown and sticky? A stick!" We competed to tell each other all the jokes we already knew. It was like a well played favorite melody. We laughed the whole way home. And when we ran low on jokes, we went on to quoting movies. As the last batch of kids were getting out of the car, I told David I was going off dancing. He leaned over the seat, kissed me on the top of the head, and said, "Have fun storming the castle."
