Editor's note: Dickie's team of doctors is keeping a close monitor on his EKG, and being that the Doyers have come back to tie in the 4th, they've recommended he keep things under control by writing a totally non-related post. Let's hope this works.
Thank God he just missed Steve Finley flying out with two outs and the bases loaded. Who knows what would have happened had he seen that... Am I the only one who caught this interview with Howard Hunt on Slate today? Hunt made a name for himself by hiring a precinct of keystone cops to break into the Watergate over 30 years ago. 'Turned out Hunt was a consultant to Nixon White House aide Chuck Colson - the same guy who, I believe, sprung John O'Neil on Kerry all those years ago. Pretty interesting interview - looks like Howard is on his last leg, literally, and he feels the need to be candid about his past, mainly his work in the CIA. Hunt: We set up the first Guatemalan operation/shop at Opa-Locka [airport in Miami, formerly an Army base]. There were three barracks, and we used the airstrip to fly in people from Guatemala and to send our people into Guatemala. These were known as "the black flights." They always occurred at night; they are a secret and officially do not exist as having happened. Slate: Do you think the Guatemala coup went well? Hunt: Yes—it did. A few Q's later... Slate: Some 200,000 [Guatemalan] civilians were killed in the civil war following the coup, which lasted for the next 40 years. Were all those deaths unforeseen? Hunt: Deaths? What deaths? But the most interesting part is the very end. He's forthcoming during the duration of the interview, but when Bardach starts asking him about the former Miami CIA station chief being involved with the Kennedy assassination, suddenly Hunt goes mum. 'Doesn't deny, 'doesn't say "no way, ridiculous," he just shuts up. "I have no comment on that." Bardach asks Hunt about being in Dallas when Kennedy was shot. "No comment." One minute he's happily talking on about Che getting his hands lopped off after being shot in the head. 'Next he zips it. All over the country, conspiracy buffs are creaming their pants as I type... HEY! What the- Steve Finley just FLIED OUT WITH BASES LOADED!! WHAT THE #$^%%%^$ MOTH#$%^@ER SON OF ^%#@ GOD DA$^#@^&$%@$^ Editor's note: ...We've just cut him off. Doctors are administering the sedative right now. We'll let you know how things go. Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
