Spent all day yesterday on the phone, trying to flag down a good expert academic source for Patricia's story on the bizarre events surrounding Venezuela and Mexico.

Of course, I started with G-town, as it is the greatest and most prestigious school in the history of, like, everything. 'Called a couple of times for the Latin American studies director, never got a call back. Plus, my bureau chief didn't think it would fly since the Hoyas are "inside Washington." One day, I shall have my revenge...

After talking with several douchebags, I finally got in touch with the Latin American studies head at Berkeley, who was pretty insightful and even-handed. (Miss E, if city planning is anything like international studies, you should be very proud.)

Well, I've decided to finally get out there. Honestly I'm scared to move on, but there are plenty of fish in the sea...

I've started drafted cover letters, beginning with a lucrative six-month internship at COX's DC bureau.

I know I know, the I-word - but look, this one's pretty solid and could lead to good things. The pay's decent for an internship, considering they put you up for free in a furnished apartment. I was up past 3 drafting a letter, slamming my head against the wall, and curling up in the fetal position. Before, I never had enough to throw at an employer in the cover. Now, I seem to have the opposite problem - you'd think that'd be a blessing but by 3:15 it really isn't...

*zzzzz*
