August 1995: Dickie matriculates at Georgetown.
March 1995: Georgetown advances to the Elite Eight. (Besides my debut, sources say Allen Iverson might've had something to do with it.) May 1999: Dickie graduates from Georgetown and moves back to God's Country. March 2001: Georgetown advances to the Sweet 16, fighting in the God's Country regional just an hour south. Not long after: Dickie moves to Playa Del Rey. Meanwhile, several blocks away, dynamic duo Brandon Bowman and Ashanti Cook come into their own at Westchester High School. The Hoyas subsequently recruit them as a package deal, destined to command Georgetown's front court. March 2005: Dickie returns to the greater Washington, D.C. area. March, 2006: Georgetown advances to the tournament for the first time since 2001. March 19, 2006: Georgetown advances to their first Sweet 16 since 2001!! BOO-ya! Look, I'm not one to take credit for today's historic victory...but as The Terrorist in V for Vendetta puts it: "There is no such thing as a coincidence." This is sweeter than our 2001 Sweet 16 appearance, when The Hoyas got a huge break from Hampton, who that year bounced two-seed Iowa State and gave Georgetown a clear path to the regionals. This year Your seventh-seed Hoyas had to do it all themselves. And fight they did: an athletic team executing The Princeton Offense - the cuts the ball-movement, the patience...all under the legacy of John Thompson. Two-seed Ohio State? They were never in this game. Today the Forces of Good vanquished the Armies of Darkness. And God saw it, and it was good. Hoya Saxa.
