Fat

Well, I had my allergist appointment today. I had been taking pills for my asthma, but they stopped working and I started wheezing. A lot. So he checked me out and decided I need stronger meds. Unfortunately, I'm back on the inhaled steroids. The good news is that my asthma will be back under control, I'll be able to breathe again, and I won't sound like an evil Sith lord in my sleep. The bad news is that I'm gonna have to start eating almost nothing. The last time I went on those inhalers I gained a ton of weight. For most of my life I was pretty skinny. Then in college when I started taking the inhaled steroids for my asthma I gained over 100 pounds. My doc took me off of the steroids and put me on pills. I was able to start losing some of the weight. Now I'm back on them and not happy. Especially since my wedding is about a year and a month away. I so do not want to look like a huge hippo monster. And white isn't very flattering unless you're a size 2. So I'm trying something new. I'm kind of doing the Slim Fast diet, only different. Steroids kill your metabolism and thyroid. Last time I was on them my doc clocked my metabolism at around 500 calories a day. So I'm gonna do the Slim Fast cans for breakfast and lunch. No snacks. And something teeny for dinner. I don't eat that much to begin with, but if I eat like a normal person while on those meds I'll gain. I'm hoping cutting down to meals-in-a-can will at least keep my weight stable (though I really wouldn't mind losing). We'll see how it goes. If I gain anything from those meds, believe me, you fearless reader, will know. I'm a chick and that means I can bitch as much as I want to about being fat. But look on the bright side, you might have to read my rants, but at least I'm not asking "does this outfit make me look fat"?

By the way, the appropriate answer to that is (quoted from an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer) . . . . "No, the fact that you're fat makes you look fat. That just makes you look purple."
