My Mom and I went to David's Bridal because it's the only place we could find where they had any dresses that were ready to try on in anything over a size 10. Trying on the dresses sucked. All the ones I thought were cool were in the smaller sizes and all the ones that I could try on were horrible. Like they assume that overweight people have no taste. Aargh! I also realized that white makes me look about double my size. It was so depressing. So many women feel beautiful when they see themselves in a wedding dress. I wanted to cry. I felt so ugly. I want to wear black to my wedding. I at least look pretty decent in black.
We then went to a few other bridal shops. None of them had anything over a size 10. Which we knew when we went there, but they claimed they at least had in two of the dresses I wanted to see in something other than a magazine. They lied just to get us in. So those places were a complete waste of time. Shopping for a wedding dress (especially if you're a plus size) is one of the worst experiences ever. They really need to make some cool ones. I mean, I could always order one I thought looked good, but then I would be obligated to buy it even if it looked like total crap. Gah. I just want to run to Vegas in my slinky black dress and elope.
