Uni-Frogs

Rob and I got up pretty early today and made our way out to San Bernardino for the Renaissance Faire. This is something I wouldn't have done on my own - I prolly would have slept in or caught a movie. But I know that he really wanted to go and so I went. And I'm so glad I did. It was really fun. The people who work there were kind of scary, and at times I felt I had been beamed to the planet of geeks, but all in all it was a great time.

Rob and I walked around a lot and looked at things for sale. Some of the stuff was way cool, but when we realized we would never use it we decided to pass. Got a turkey leg for lunch. That's the best part of the Ren Faire. Walking around with a huge ass turkey leg and gnawing on it. Bones? Spit them onto the ground. Done with it? It makes a nice club if someone is naughty. We ended up getting a Celtic tapestry to put over our bed (we don't have a headboard so we need something in that vast empty wall space). And I got a little stuffed uni-frog. A cute little hand made stuffed frog (kind of a camouflage color) with a horn on its head. Hence uni-frog.

The weather channel, however, lied to us. Which was probably for the best. It said that the high today would be 79 in the area of the Ren Faire. When we left the Faire at the end of the day, it was 90. It's probably a good thing it lied though, cause I don't know if we would have gone had we known it was going to be 90 out. But I'm still glad we went. It was very hot for awhile, but I lived. And happily enough there was some shade so I didn't end up passing out from heat exhaustion (a bad habit of my body's). Luckily we were both slathered head to toe in sunblock. SPF 45 did the trick for most of my body that was exposed. My arms and shoulders are fine. However, the SPF 15 I put on my face didn't work as well. My nose and cheeks are a bit on the sunburned side. Not a good thing considering how fair skinned I am and that there is a history of melanoma in my family (my Grandma on my Dad's side has had countless melanoma lesions removed). But it wasn't "lobster" bad. Just kind of red.

When we got back home both Rob and I immediately jumped in the shower. We were so unbelievably dirty. In the shower the lather was a funky gray color and black dirt stuff came out of our hair. Needless to say, every article of clothing we wore is now in the laundry.

Anyway, if you've never been to a Ren Faire I highly recommend it. Even if it's not your usual thing. It's a very fun experience.
