Mood:
Still Annoyed With Amber

Okay, so I said I would post more about what's going on with Amber later. It's later.

As I'm sure most of you know, Amber has the annoying habit of peeing everywhere that's not a litter box. So we took her to the vet awhile ago and found out it might be a medical condition. And after medication and a special food she's doing it now more than ever. It used to be around 2 times a month or so. Now it's at least once a day. In the last 24 hours she did it 4 different times. In a clean basket of towels fresh from the dryer, on the floor in front of the bedroom, on the floor next to the loveseat, and on a stack of blankets in the computer room.

Rob and I are at our wit's end. We cannot keep a cat that does this. Yet we love her so much. So we talked to some vets and are going to make one last effort with her. She has a vet appointment this Sunday and hopefully the vet can do something, anything, to make her stop peeing everywhere. That's all we can do. And if she keeps it up we're going to have to find a new home for her. Hopefully one where she can have outdoor access. She was born feral and might just have it ingrained in her to go wherever she thinks her territory is. If we had a yard this wouldn't be a problem, but we're in an apartment building and can't just let her outside to pee.

So, if anyone reading this might want a cat or know someone who does, let me know in case worse comes to worse and we have to give her up. Amber is very sweet and affectionate (and smart to boot), but she also has a problem using a litter box. *sighs*

As a side note - Sydney is an angel. Most cats react to cat pee by peeing on it. Everyone I have talked to (vets included) is amazed that Sydney hasn't started peeing where Amber peed. Yay purebreeds. From now on I'm sticking with purebreeds (preferably Abyssinians and Siamese). It's nice to be able to rescue a kitty in need, but not at the expense of having it ruin your things and almost get you kicked out of the apartment. Plus, it reeks in here.
