I saw this on other journals and thought it looked like something interesting to post.

----------

1. School and grad year:

The Chicago Academy for the Arts - 1992

2. Nickname:

Jay

3. Sports:

I went to an arts school. We didn't have any sports.

4. Circle of friends:

Pretty much everyone. Our school had less than 100 people in it and unlike most high schools everyone was pretty much friends with everyone. There weren't really any solid cliques.

5. Best subject:

Playwriting (to those not in the know that is writing plays - not playing around with writing).

6. Favorite classes:

Directing, playwriting and creative writing.

7. Worst subject:

Stage tech. I sucked (and hated) building sets.

8. Teacher you owe something to:

Lynn Baber. She's the one who made me relize that my passion was in directing and writing and not acting. She also allowed me to co-direct a play with her. She's a truly amazing woman.

A close second goes to Spencer Farmins who told me that I had the skills in high school to be a professional writer.

9. One word description of you:

Metal-head.

10. Senior prom encapsulated review:

I went with a large group of female friends and we just hung out and had a blast. Unfortunately I had a hard time getting home (and had to wait in the hallway outside of my parent's condo for a few hours) because my parents forgot to pick a friend and I up. They were out getting smashed with some sports team from Bermuda and playing the "Bunnies" drinking game.

11. Achievements:

Was the head of the "Discipline Committee" (which for some odd reason was actually cool and people really wanted to be on).
Co-directed one of the main school plays.
Directed and wrote some small plays.
Got a protest started (with the help of PETA) when we were told we were going to have to dissect cats for our AP Anatomy class. I got the highest grade in the class without ever getting near a poor dead kitty.

12. Popularity rating:

I was pretty much friends with everyone, but that was the norm in a small arts school. No one was really considered popular and no one was really considered unpopular. I was sucked up to a lot because of the whole Discipline Committe thing though.

13. Three songs that remind you of high school:

"The Fall of Christopher Robin" by Current 93.
"This Corrosion" by The Sisters of Mercy.
"Head Like A Hole" by Nine Inch Nails.

14. Three things that took the pain away:

1. Writing poetry.
2. Being around my friends.
3. Laying on my bed with all the lights off and a few candles lit listening to Nine Inch Nails.

15. What I wanted most out of high school:

To be able to get into a good theatre or film school for college.

16. What I got out of high school:

Accepted to the Filmic Writing program at USC.

17. Regrets:

Losing contact with all of my high school friends.
Not enjoying life more back then.
Thinking I was "fat" when I was only about 120 lbs.
