2004-04-01 11:49 PM Shopping With Berek Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Sleepy Read/Post Comments (0) Today was rather cool. Berek came over around 2pm and we headed out to the Sherman Oaks mall. We looked around a few stores there, but didn't get anything. We looked around in Sephora, but they didn't have anything I was interested in. Checked out Coach for a purse I had my eye on for a while, but I didn't see it in stock. And went into Brookstone to see if I could find a b-day present for Rob, but nothing looked too promising. We grabbed lunch in the food court (Subway for me and Sbarro for Berek) and then left the mall. When we left the mall it was pouring out. We had previously considered heading to Citywalk, but since it was raining out we decided to head to the Glendale Galleria instead. At the Galleria I checked out Sharper Image, but still no b-day gift ideas for Rob. As we headed out of the store I saw the Build A Bear Workshop and something clicked in my head. Rob has always said that he wanted a fire farting pony the size of a kitty - so how about a fire fighting pony named kitty? Berek and I went in the store and I made Rob a b-day present (which I can post on here because he now has it and knows what it is, I'll explain why later on). I got a pony, stuffed it, gave it a heart, fluffed it (I know, that sounds so wrong, doesn't it), and dressed it in a fire fighters uniform. I made its birth certificate and named it "KITTY!!!". Rob's fire fighting pony named KITTY!!! was then born. After the Build A Bear Workshop Berek and I went in a few mores stores. I checked out Coach, but they didn't have the purse I was interested in either. We also made a run to Hot Topic. I wish there was a Torrid in that mall. Unfortunately, I think the closest one to us is in Northridge. *pout* We then headed out of the mall and back to my place. We met up with Rob right when we got back. I was about to put my key in the apartment door and Rob called to us from down the hallway. He had already seen the big Build A Bear box and so I gave him the pony as an early b-day gift (I plan on getting him something more than a stuffed pony). He opened the box and liked the pony. Yay! I'm glad he liked the gift. He said he's going to take it to work with him. The three of us then decided to head out so I set the VCR to record "Survivor" and "The Apprentice". Rob gave the Sherman Oaks mall a call to see if they knew of *any* Coach stores with the purse, and they said they had one in stock. Apparently they just didn't put it out because it's limited edition. So, the three of us headed back to the Sherman Oaks mall. I took Rob into Brookstone to see if there was anything else he wanted for his b-day, but there wasn't. So, we're going to wait and see if there's anything in Solvang that I can get him when we're there for his b-day weekend. I then went into Coach and got the purse I liked. It's white canvas with grommets and has a butterfly on it. We all then left the mall and headed to dinner. Rob mentioned that he hadn't eaten anything all day and so it was time for foodage. Berek had never been to Vitello's (best Italian restaurant in LA) and so we took him there. Over dinner Rob told us about his trip to the DMV after work (he needed to renew his ID, unfortunately he still doesn't drive) and how someone got arrested while he was there. I'll let him tell the story in his own journal. We had a very good dinner and then Berek dropped us off at our place. Rob and I chilled out for a while and I decided to post this before bed. Now, it's bed time. And as a side note, I'm probably returning the Coach purse tomorrow. When I got it home and had a chance to look at it I realized that it's frickin' HUGE and way bigger than I originally thought. It's really too big to suit my needs to alas I'll be heading back to the Sherman Oaks mall tomorrow to return it. I wish they had a slightly smaller version of it, but alas, they don't. And as a second side note, when we got home we discovered a bunch of baby spiders in our bedroom. Rob checked to see if there was a nest that hatched, but couldn't find anything. I've had an egg sack hatch before and there were hundreds, if not thousands, of babies. There were only a handful in our room so it looks as if something might have hatched right outside and some got in. At least, I hope that's what happened because the last thing I want to deal with right now is another spider egg hatching. Been there, done that, ended up traumatized for life. Have I mentioned how much I hate spiders? Arachnophobic doesn't even begin to cover it. *shudders* ----------
