As some of you (such as my Mom) may have noticed, my South Park character on the front page of my journal has changed. This is because I am no longer a blonde. That's right - yesterday I went red.

Rob and I got up early in the AM and headed out to Montclair for both of our hair appointments. Carrie was originally slated to come with us, but she unfortunately ended up not being able to make it becasue she needed to get some things done before Mother's Day. Totally understandable. Chances are either she or Shannon will be coming along next time I get my hair touched up because both have expressed interested in checking the salon (Gebhart) out.

Rob and I headed directly to the salon because he had an appointment for a hair cut a little bit before my hair dye appointment. Luckily, Margie was free when I got there and so she started in on me while Sylvia gave Rob his cut. Changing from blonde to red was a rather long process. Not as long as some of the other processes I've been through (like when I went platinum), but long nonetheless. First came the protein treatments so that my hair would still be healthy after the color change. I went through many different treatments and was in the sink for a little over an hour. Then I was dried and Dennis put the filler on my head. It made my hair into a color that none of us could quite identify. It was kind of a deep blonde/light brown/pale red color. Apparently that's what filler is supposed to do - to put you at a cross roads color. I was then washed and dried again and then Margie put the red on me. I wished that we had a camera with us because as the dye went on my scalp it looked as if I had a gushing head wound because of the color of the dye. The dye went on the rest of my head and we waited about a half hour for it to sit. Part of that time I had a plastic cap over my head and was under a dryer so that it could really work it's way into my hair. Red dyes wash out pretty quickly and this is a way to try and keep it from fading so soon. After the red dye I was washed and blown dry.

The red is a little bit darker than I had originally planned, but I definitely like it. And since it's a bit darker hopefully the fading won't be bad. The color in the South Park cartoon on the front of the journal should give you an idea of about how it looks. I guess the best way to describe it is a little bit deeper of a red than Nicole Kidman had in Moulin Rouge. Rob LOVES it. He's always had a thing for red hair, and apparently this is what he considers to be the perfect red hair color. He also said that it made my eyes pop a lot more. The blonde was pale and my skin is pale (I have a peaches and cream complexion) and my eyes are a pale grey, but with the darker red hair he said my eyes seem a lot brighter. Cool. I'm very glad I decided to change the color to red.

After getting my hair done we headed to a local movie theatre and saw Van Helsing. Wow. The word "Craptastic" has never been so fitting. I will admit, the effects were neat and the ball scene was incredible, but that's where the good bits end. It was SOOOOOO bad (and not even the type of bad that's good). Some examples of why the film "sucked balls" (as Rob put it):
Apparently Dracula (who is ass ugly and in desperate need of a nose job) and his brides can spawn little dead baby vampire children. And the way to bring them to life is by hooking them up to Frankenstein.
One minute it's snowing - the next minute it's pouring rain and in the middle of an electrical storm!
I really don't think that horse drawn carriages are supposed to catch on fire when hit by a werewolf. Or, for that matter, blow up if they get into a wreck.

So, yeah. Rob's review of the film "sucking balls" was pretty apt. I normally enjoy bad movies, but this was just beyond a bad "B" movie. While I didn't hate it (even though it was horrible), I didn't like it much either.

After the movie we headed to Long John Silver's for dinner. Mmmmm, chicken and fish in crack batter. *drools* After dinner we headed home.

Today we're just chilling out around the house. Rob is cooking dinner (bacon and eggs - yum) and we're going to watch the finale of Survivor. I'm glad we decided to spend today in. Both of us were very tired and haven't been getting enough sleep recently and my anemia is acting up something fierce and I'm extremely weak and dizzy today. So, staying in is just perfect. Besides, cuddling in bed with my sweetie until around 4pm just rocked. I could do that forever. *dreamy sigh* Hopefully, my anemia will ease up during the week. I HATE feeling dizzy, sick, tired, and weak. Blah.
