Go Cubbies!

Mood:
Sick, and stoked that I was able to *finally* see a Cubs game.

I'm still not feeling all that well, but hopefully that should change over the next few days. I've been trying to take it easy and let my body heal itself, and with the exception of last night I've been doing a very good job of that.

I know that I probably should have stayed in last night, but dammit, this was my first chance to see a Cubs game. And sick or not, I was going.

I've always been a Cubs fan. Hell, I've always been a fan of all of the Chicago teams. But as far as baseball goes I've only been able to see the Sox play. I went to a decent number of Sox games when I was a kid, but never any Cubs games. From what my Mom says that's because the Cubs don't have any major parking lots near their field and parking is very hard to find. My Dad has issues driving around to find parking and so we just never went to Cubs games. But Berek had tickets to last night's Dodgers / Cubs game and I'd be damned if I was going to miss that!

I went with the attitude that I was fine with either team winning (though I was rooting for the Cubs), I just wanted to see them play. It's a good thing I went with that attitude because the Cubs played like a bunch of Tard Monkeys last night. The Dodgers won 7 to 3. *grumbles* I think the Cubs could have done a lot better had they switched out their first baseman. The guy kept dropping the ball when he tried to catch it. And one time when it was hit in his direction he *ducked* instead of catching the damn ball. Sosa also was pretty retarded when he was at bat. *sigh* Not the Cubs finest game, but I'm still very happy that I got to see them play. Though being there made me wish that Rob and I could move back to Chicago. I miss the city terribly and I would love to be able to head to a Cubs, Sox, Bulls, Bears, or Blackhawks game on a whim. But we signed a new lease with our apartment complex, and that won't be up until April 2005. Oh well. Our life is here anyway and it's not feasible (financially and otherwise) to leave LA. I just miss Chicago sometimes. A lot.

Being at the game rocked and I'm very thankful to Berek and his brother Ben for letting Rob and I go to the game with them. It was the four of us at the game and I think all of us had a good time. Ben was a sweetie and bought Rob a Dodgers (Brooklyn Dodgers) baseball hat because Rob thinks the Dodgers are traitors for ever leaving Brooklyn. I think he once mentioned to me that his family still has the newspaper with "Dem Bums" on the front page from when the Dodgers left Brooklyn. Guess those New Yorkers know how to hold a grudge. Rob and I had Dodger Dogs and Krispy Kremes for dinner at the stadium and when the game was over Berek and Ben dropped us back off at home, which was probably a good thing because being out exhausted me and I was even falling asleep in the car on the way home. Once we got back home Rob and I just watched some TV (news and a bit of Adult Swim) and then headed to bed.

Not much of interest is going on today. I'm doing more laundry (sheets and towels) and trying to take it easy until this bout of anemia passes.

I don't think so. I really don't think this fits me at all. Oh well, it could be worse. It could be Hobbits. *shudders*
