Finally Out Of The House

Tonight I finally got out of the house. Sure, I still don't feel 100%, but it's been about a week since I've last been out and I was going a bit stir crazy. Rob and I headed over to the Burbank Media City Center mall. We had some shopping to do and thought we might get food or see a movie or something like that when we were done.

Our first stop was at Mervyn's for some Isotoner ballet style slippers in pink. Size small. Not for me. Certainly not for Rob. They were for Amber. Yes, you read that right, they were for our cat. Oddly enough, one of her favorite toys is an old pair of my ballet slippers. We had to throw her old one out because one of the cats wharfed on it, and she seemed to sad not being able to proudly drag it over to Rob so we got her new ones. She seems happy with them and the small ones are easier for her to carry around and rip the crap out of.

After Mervyn's we made a stop in Payless where Rob got some sneakers (or as he calls them, "work shoes" - yes he can wear sneakers to work) and I got a pair of striped rain boots. I am so prepared for the rainy season shoe wise. Now I just need to find some sort of water proof jacket and I'm all set.

Then we headed to Bath and Body works where we got some refills for our Wallflowers unit (which we sorely needed - with two cats you need some sort of nice scent about the apartment) and some hand lotion for both Rob and myself.

From there it was on to Lane Bryant because I need a new pair of jeans (my regular ones are falling apart). Unfortunately, I couldn't find any that fit right. I need a low rise pair or the top of the waist hits my breasts. All they had were standard rise and they all came up way too high on me. I did manage to pick up a t-shirt to sleep in though. It's light blue and has a tie at the top. Really cute. Rob picked it out. We both thought I needed a new sleep shirt because my old red one with the cat on it is getting rather... worn.

From there it was on to the bookstore where we wanted to see if they had any D&D minis. They didn't, but they did have a Beanie Baby hamster named Twitch. Sweet! I got one for Rob and one for myself. We laughed when we read the poem: "As I scurry in my cage / The wheel I have is all the rage / Take me out so we can snuggle / I promise you that I won't struggle". Rob was disappointed and commented that he liked it when they struggled. Uh... yeah. Don't felch the plushie hamster sweetie. I need to tell his sister about this, she'll have a field day with it.

After our shopping we headed to P.F. Chang's for dinner. We were told that the wait would be an hour to an hour and a half, but it was only a half hour. Yay! We got yummy food and were scared by a guy sitting at a table near us. He looked like a cross between a zombie and a CHUD and for the rest of dinner Rob and I would keep saying "brains". He was rather creepy looking. After dinner we headed out of Burbank.

On the way home we made a stop at the drug store for some necessities. Rob then asked if he could drive from the drug store to the bank. I let him. Lesson learned: do not have a new driver who is used to driving a compact car try to drive an SUV. It just doesn't work. He told me he's a lot better at driving the student driver car than he was at mine. That's a good thing. I don't think I'll be letting him try to drive my car again until he has his license. This is why he needs his own car. He's not meant to be driving an SUV. We did manage to get to the bank safely however and we hit the ATM (to deposit and take out money - Rob thankfully did not hit it with the car). We then made a run into Vons for a few items and headed back home.

At home we played a round of the D&D miniatures game and then headed to the business center to mess around on Neopets. He's on Neopets and I'll be on there shortly when I'm done with this posting and checking my e-mail. We really need to look into getting DSL for our home computer.
