2004-12-12 1:41 AM Surprise! There's A Spider In My Slipper! Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Still creeped out. Read/Post Comments (1) Today Rob and I got up around 11:30am when Tina stopped by to do the paperwork and get payment for the cat sitting she'll be doing. I woke up when she knocked on the door. I would have been groggy, but I got a very rude awakening this morning. As I went to put my slippers on, I felt something in one of them. Knowing the cats and how they like to put random things in my shoes, I didn't think twice about reaching on it and grabbing it out of my shoe. I didn't even look at what I was grabbing until I felt it bite me. I then looked down and saw a rather large spider in my hand. I freaked. A lot. Luckily, Tina knows spiders and when she looked at it said I shouldn't have to worry about it's bite. Still, seeing a spider in my hand that just bit me and was hiding in my slipper freaked the living hell out of me. I'm still creeped out by it. The weird thing about this is that a while back I saw a show on spiders and it said that they like to climb in shoes for some reason. That made me paranoid and I usually don't put a pair of shoes or slippers on without either having Rob bug check it or shaking the hell out of it and seeing if anything falls out. Never before have I found anything. The one freaking time I actually just put my slippers on there's a god damn spider in them. Fuck. Anyway, once I stopped freaking out Rob and I met with Tina. We went over our instructions for our apartment, the mail, and the cats and paid her. We also just talked for a bit. At one point we looked out onto the street in front of our building and saw an odd procession of bikers, police, and fire trucks. A LOT of them. I'm glad Rob and Tina saw them too and that I wasn't hallucinating from the spider bite. When you have cats, going away for a bit can get expensive. After talking with Tina and doing all the formalities, she headed out and Rob and I headed back to bed. No sleeping was involved. Three hours later we limped into the shower and got ready. We decided to spend the day out in the Claremont area. We felt like just heading out somewhere and Rob felt like driving. I love being in the passenger seat of a car. So, we headed out to that area. Our first stop was to look around a new age shop called Kindred Spirits. We then went to dinner at the amazing Chinese restaurant next to Gebhart (though I can't for the life of me remember the name of it). Amazing Chinese food. After dinner we headed to LionHeart games and I got some cool dice and Rob got some D&D minis. They didn't have any of the D&D books we wanted in or a baby Cthulhu book that Kat mentioned on her journal. Oh well, maybe next time. Then we headed to downtown Claremont. We grabbed some coffee at Starbucks, sat outside for awhile (it was so cool being out there with Rob - it's where I used to sit with my laptop on my own when I was living in Claremont and my roommate was at her boyfriend's house), and then just walked around town for a bit. After walking around we put some gas in Rob's car and headed home. All in all it was a very cool day. Tomorrow we're thinking of heading to the Aquarium in Long Beach. ----------
