More Cell Phone Dilemmas

Last night Rob and I did a whole bunch of errands after he got home from work. Our first stop was a super quick stop at the mall in Sherman Oaks. I needed to see if the beauty supply store there had a product that I needed to pick up for my hair. They didn't. *grumbles* So, we headed out of the mall and went to the Cingular store. My phone is pretty much dead and AT&T is now Cingular. What I found out there blows. I can't get a new phone to work on the AT&T network. They don't sell them anymore. I had wanted to get a phone like Rob's where you can unfold the keyboard to make text messages easier (plus his is a Nokia and I know those work). If I want a new phone I have to sign up with Cingular (not a big) and get one of their phones. That wouldn't be a huge deal if they actually had any decent phones. They had one Nokia and it was a super crappy entry level one. They had a Samsung, but the reviews I saw on it blew. Apparently it's good at doing everything except being a phone and you can't hear the person you're talking to at all. So, I'm once again left with a Motorola. Yes, I have learned my lesson when it comes to Motorola phones, but if I switch over to Cingular then I'm going to have to go with a Motorola. If I stay with AT&T, then I have a phone which doesn't function and that kind of defeats the purpose of my having cell phone service.

After the disappointment at Cingular it was time for dinner so we headed to In N Out. We're now both fully aware that In N Out is always a good idea for foodage. After dinner we headed over to Burbank. Rob needed to pick up a gift certificate at Outback for his parents and I decided to check out the Verizon store. They have a lot better phones than Cingular and MUCH better coverage. I could even get reception in my Mom's area! The down side fo switching to Verizon is that I would have to pay a $175 fee to AT&T/Cingular for terminating my contract early (it goes until February 2006) and it would take a while to disconnect my AT&T service and get my number switched over to a Verizon phone. I'm not real sure what I'm going to do on the cell phone front. I might end up sticking with Cingular for the next year or so, getting another Motorola, and then seeing where everything stands when that contract comes up. I just wish AT&T wouldn't have screwed me on my original contract. If they would have mentioned that they were selling themselves when I signed my last contract I would have switched back then.

After all that running around Rob and I came home and just relaxed. Today it's more laundry and around the house stuff. With our up coming trip it looks like I'll be doing laundry every day this week. Bleh. Rob's been having some serious issues at work (including a panic inducing phone call at the end of yesterday's work day from his boss), but I'll let him post about that if he wants to.

You Were Nice This Year!
You're an uber-perfect person who is on the top of Santa's list. You probably didn't even *think* any naughty thoughts this year. Unless you're a Mormon, you've probably been a little too good. Is that extra candy cane worth being a sweetheart for 365 days straight?
