2005-08-08 3:56 PM Quick Trip To Solvang Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Content Read/Post Comments (6) Yesterday Rob and I made a quick trip up to Solvang. As much as I would have loved to walk around there for a full day, it was just way too hot for that. But we did need to head up there because The Mystic Merchant was holding a few things for me on the side. The drive up there was all right. Instead of the usual two hours it takes when there's no traffic, it took about two and a half. This was due to a backup of traffic which ended around La Conchita. Yup, people are still rubbernecking to look at that area. People are sick. I can understand looking out if you're not driving, but drivers rubbernecking to get a look? It's just morbid and sick. My faith in people is still slowly diminishing. We got up there around 3pm. There were a lot of people out there so I pulled the parking Meepit out and made it dance. Sure enough, we got a spot. Not only did we find a spot, but we got one in the lot right across from where we were going. Way to go parking Meepit! We first went to The Mystic Merchant where I picked up my Tibetan Healing Turtles. One is a little turtle statue and the other is a necklace. My only concern is that it's not a "good" metal so it won't last very long. Most metals tend to dissolve pretty quickly when they come in contact with my skin. I know it's weird, but even silver tends to dissolve when I wear it (though it's slower than other metals). Gold and platinum don't seem to have any problems. I'm going to try and not have it touch my skin because I don't want it to break up and I don't want my skin turned green. But, it's something I'll be wearing during my pregnancy, especially when I'm in labor. While there I also picked up a few more of the stone carved animal totems that I'm collecting. After the store Rob and I got some Sarsparillas and then went to the De-Stress cafe for massages. We called in the morning and made appointments for 4pm. Rob got a 45 minute table massage and I got a 20 minute seated massage and a 30 minute reflexology massage. Words cannot describe just how much I love that place. Their massages are amazing and their prices are way better than anything you would find around LA. I think at some point I'll have to check out their pregnancy massage. After the massage I felt great. My upper back (which hurts from my boobs being so big now) didn't hurt at all. That pinched nerve in my neck that was hurting my neck, shoulder, and arm was also gone. My lower back and hips still hurt, but nothing's going to make that better since I'm preggers. Still, I felt amazing. I think we need to go up there more often even if it is just for massages. We then went to The Heidelburg Inn for dinner, grabbed some caramal apples from The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and headed back on the 101. Traffic was horrible. It was backed up from north of Santa Barbara all the way to... you guessed it... La Conchita. At one point in the ride I desperately needed a bathroom (pregnancy will do that to you) and so we stopped off in Carpenteria and found a bar where Rob got a soda and I used their bathroom. We then hopped back on the freeway and headed home. What is normally a two hour ride took three and a half hours. Ugh. Once we were home we munched our caramel apples (well, mine was a caramel apple - Rob's was a dark chocolate coated caramel apple), watched some of Adult Swim, and then went to bed. ----------
You are 57% Rational, 28% Extroverted, 42% Brutal, and 85% Arrogant. You are the Haughty Intellectual. You are a very rational person, emphasizing logic over emotion, and you are also rather arrogant and self-aggrandizing. You probably think of yourself as an intellectual, and you would like everyone to know it. Not only that, but you also tend to look down on others, thinking yourself better than them. You could possibly have an unhealthy obsession with yourself as well, thus causing everyone to hate you for being such an elitist twat. On top of all that, you are also introverted and gentle. This means that you are just a quiet thinker who wants fame and recognition, in all likelihood. Rather lacking in emotion, introspective, gentle, and arrogant, you are most certainly a Haughty Intellectual! And, most likely, you will never achieve the recognition or fame you so desire! Sweet!
To put it less negatively:
