When we got to Disneyland we had the time to go on Pirates before meeting up with people. Wow, I think we were on the ADD fuckwit boat. There was a group of people who were acting like total retards on the boat with us. The kids were annoying and spazzing (and by kids I mean teenagers) and the parents were going along with it and encouraging them. One of them kept trying to talk to the animatronic pirates and would get annoyed when they wouldn't talk back, so then he started throwing his garbage at them. Real mature. How can someone not understand the simple concept that the pirates in the ride are not real poeple? That pretty much ruined the ride for us. Especially when they started splashing around in the water that surrounds the boat.
After the ride we met up with the group outside of Club 33. I have to admit, I was excited about going there. I had always heard about it, but never thought I'd be able to get in. For those of you not in the know, Club 33 is a private restaurant/lounge in Disneyland. The waiting list is 5 years long and it costs an arm and a leg to be a member. Julia's sister is a member and was able to get our group a reservation for Carrie's b-day party. How cool is that?
It took awhile to get our table since the restaurant was backed up, so we waited for awhile in the lobby. It's a very nice lobby with an elevator that reminded me of the one Frankenfurter comes down in in the RHPS. There's also a staircase that leads up to the restaurant and lounge above. After waiting for about a half an hour we were finally allowed upstairs. The room we were in was called the Trophy Room and sat three large groups in it. We didn't get to go in the lounge or main dining room. I think the main dining room is for smaller parties (we had a total of 10).
The place is very nice and looks like a high end restaurant. While it is very cool, I don't think it's worth the thousands of dollars per year that someone would pay to be a member. From what I can tell, all the membership fee does is allow you to make reservations there. The food was excellent and very expensive. I was allergic to all of the appetizers that they were serving that night, so I ended up starting my meal off with a cheese plate. For dinner I had a steak (chateaubriand) which was really good and for dessert I had an amazing pineapple upside down cake. Bryce ordered a few bottles of sparking apple cider for the table (which was great because it meant that I could have some) and the table water that was served was Evian. All in all the dinner was fun. It was great to see the inside of Club 33 and the food was very good. Oh, the bathrooms are a bit odd though. If you put the toilet lid down the toilet becomes a wicker chair. When the lid is up the toilet seat is huge. So big that I was hoping I was correctly over the hole. It's a toilet chair. The bottom of the toilet is all wicker. Weirdness. Anyway, like I said, Club 33 is very cool. I'd love to go back there someday, but this was probably a once in a lifetime experience.
After dinner Rob and I were getting tired so we headed out of the park. I tried to get a balloon, but all of the vendors had gone in early. We made a stop at the La Brea Bakery Express to grab some sandwiches to take home for lunch the next day and then headed home.
Sunday Rob and I slept in and decided that we were once again in the mood for Chinese food. So we headed out to Golden China for dinner, did some grocery shopping, and made a brief stop at The Game Zone for some minis. Tonight it looks like we'll be doing laundry, some gaming, and cooking tacos.
