2005-12-01 3:23 PM Doctor's Appointment and Doula Appointment Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: So-So Read/Post Comments (0) Yesterday Rob picked me up during his lunch hour and brought me to Good Sam. I spent the afternoon hanging out in the nurse's break room, playing Sudoku, and occasionally falling asleep from sheer exhaustion. I headed up to my appointment a little before 4:30pm. The doctor's appointment went very slowly. People were running behind and I normally wouldn't care, but we had a 5pm appointment with Carmen (my doula). I did the usual - peed in a cup, got weighed (no change from last time), had my bp taken (normal), and then waited around for the doctor. She checked the baby's heartbeat (good) and measured me (still right on track) and I asked her a whole slew of questions. When that was over and done with I had to wait around for a nurse to give me my Rhogam shot. Wow, those suck. First off it's a shot in the ass which is unpleasant to begin with. The needle is huge and it take about a minute for the shot to be administered. Immediatly after the shot I started sweating and felt like I was going to throw up. For the rest of the night my ass hurt like hell and my leg muscles kept cramping up on me. Even today my ass and right leg are still rather sore. Because the doctor's appointment ran late we weren't able to meet up with Carmen until 5:45. Luckily her office is right across the hall from the doctor's and she was very understanding. We gave her the paperwork and the first check and went over some stuff with her. Basics on early labor, what to do when I go into labor, etc. We'll be meeting with her a lot because we're having our childbirth classes with her and not with a normal group. That's really the best for me because I need to be vigilant about not getting sick during the rest of the pregnancy. With my health problems and certain pregnancy complications I'm having even a cold or flu could be extremely harmful to both myself and Gabriel. So, do me a favor, if I'm going to see you and you're sick or have been sick PLEASE let me know. After everything was done at the hospital it was a little after 7pm. Rob and I headed out, grabbed dinner at Wendy's, and then headed home. I was exhausted and wanted to pass out right then and there, but had to stay up to get in my exercise and to do my post-dinner blood test. Bleh. Once all that was over with it was time for sleep. ----------
