2006-01-27 10:17 PM Getting Ready For Gabriel Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Tired Read/Post Comments (3) Thursday night Rob and I grabbed food at Wendy's and then headed to Target to get some things we need for Gabriel and for around the house when Gabriel gets here. We weren't able to get everything we needed, maybe about half. We then headed home and washed up a lot of the baby clothes. Today I had my (now weekly) OB appointment with Dr. Hill. The heartbeat sounds good and I'm now considered "safe". I can deliver from now on with no worries. While I definitely want him to come on or before his due date so I don't have to worry about being induced, I'd like it to not be super soon. We're still not 100% ready yet. I've come to the conclusion that all tests I take during pregnancy come out positive when positive means bad. I got my Group B Strep results back and am positive. Greeeeaaaat. Now I get to have an IV antibiotic during labor. I'd better stock up on Acidophilus pills because if I don't I'll be dealing with both post-partum bleeding and a yeast infection. Antibiotics are not good for girl parts. During the time Rob was at work and I wasn't at the doctor's office I played Sudoku. When he got off of work we headed up to the Calabasas area for a Babies R Us run. While we were there we picked up most everything we still needed for Gabriel including a carrier and stroller combo. Now we just have to clean up our bedroom (huge task) and make room for the bassinet. Wow, this is really getting down to the wire. After Babies R Us we went to Red Robin for dinner and then headed home. Tomorrow we need to call maintenance and pray they actually come up. Our kitchen lights both burned out and we now have no light in the kitchen. Also, we're having problems with the garbage disposal again. I woke up this morning to find Amber playing in a bunch of rotten mushrooms it had spit up. We haven't put mushrooms down there since I can remember so it looks like it's spitting up other people's rot. Ew. It also reeks and the smell (which is probably something I'm allergic to) is causing me to congest up whenever I'm inside the apartment. This has happened before and back then they had to call an outside company to come and remove a ball of rotting food and maggots. Hopefuly this won't be the case again. We also need a new filter for our air conditioner / heater unit. I just really hope we can get the light and the stench fixed tomorrow. We'll see, this building pretty much sucks when it comes to having competent maintenance people. ----------
