Mood:
Waiting for Gabriel.

Yesterday Rob picked me up during his lunch hour so that I could be at the hospital for my appointment in the afternoon. The bacon wrapped hot dog vendor was sick, so we hit the McDonald's drive through for lunch. Edible, but not nearly as good as those addictive street dogs.

My appointment was at 3:15pm. We arrived at the hospital around 1pm. Rob needed to run off to a meeting, so I headed to the employee break room to eat my lunch and play Sudoku until it was time for my appointment.

I headed up to my appointment a little early and signed in. I went through the usual - peeing in a cup, got my blood pressure taken, and got weighed. They then sent me into the exam room and told me to disrobe from the waist down (time for another internal). When I was getting undressed Rob came in to meet up with me for the appointment. We waited only a few minutes before Dr. Hill came in. She listened to the baby's heart beat, did the internal, and felt my abdomen to get an idea of how big he was getting. The heart beat sounded good. I've made some progress with the effacement, but that's it. While I'm still 2cm dilated, and the baby is still at -2 station, I'm now 100% effaced. Dr. Hill still thinks I'll be delivering early, but can't tell for sure. Apparently it's hard to tell that sort of thing for a first time Mom. So while there's a good chance that Gabriel will be coming before his due date, no one knows for sure and he could be stubborn and hold off until after the due date. I'm hoping that's not the case because I'm only allowed a few days after my due date before they'll induce me because of the GD. I'd rather go into labor naturally so that I can tub labor. I keep telling Gabriel that as soon as his Grandma is out here, he's welcome to come out ASAP. After feeling the baby Dr. Hill said she thought Gabriel would be around 7 to 7 1/2 pounds at birth. Dr. Bochner (the perinatologist) predicted he'd weigh in around 7 3/4 to 8 pounds. I'm hope Dr. Hill is correct on this. The smaller the baby, the easier it's going to be to deliver. I also joked with the doctor that I mentioned to Carmen that I would deliver the smallest GD baby she's seen (the smallest she's seen has been 8 1/2 pounds). Looks like I might actually do that. Now I just need to fulfill the goal I told Dr. Hill at the beginning of my pregnancy - that I would be the fastest first time delivery she's seen. This means I'd have to deliver within 8 hours of getting to the hospital. Scary enough, she thinks it might be do-able. She thinks (and I really hope she's right) that this might end up being a quick and easy labor since I'm already completely effaced. We'll see.

After the doctor's appointment I made another appointment for next Thursday afternoon (just in case I need it) and Rob headed back to work while I headed back to the employee break room. While he worked I did more Sudoku. Those are great time killers. When he was done with work he met up with me again and we headed out.

On the way home we stopped off at Round Table for dinner and then headed back to our place. Not much exciting is going on today. More laundry and a bunch of the same old stuff. If Gabriel doesn't come this weekend I'd like to see Final Destination 3 at some point. Rob and I toyed with the idea of seeing it tonight, but it will probably be packed since it's opening night. Maybe a matinee this weekend would be good.
