2006-03-20 1:47 PM Trying Out Soy Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: A bit worried about Gabriel. Read/Post Comments (1) I talked to Dr. Hill about my bleeding having resumed and she thinks it's my period. I know it isn't. Carmen mentioned that if it's not my period and it's still the lochia, then I'm doing too much. Well, last weekend proved that Carmen hit the nail on the head. The bleeding was gone on the day I stayed in bed with my migraine. It came back pretty heavily on Friday when I was running around with the baby. On Saturday morning when I had a pediatrician appointment and a trip to Target it was super heavy and then yesterday tapered down when I was able to relax. Looks like it is coming from my doing too much, but I don't really have a choice. Rob needs to be at work, and I understand that, so I'm the only one able to take care of the baby. My family and Rob's family are across the country so I really don't have anyone around here willing or able to help out. Yeah, I probably should be resting more, but I just can't do so. Saturday morning Rob and I took Gabriel in for his one month check up. He now weighs 8 pounds 5 1/2 ounces and measures at 21 3/4 long. We voiced some of our recent concerns to the doctor (his gas, fussiness, and spitting up) and he suggesed we try a soy formula and see how that goes. So, after the appointment when we headed to Target for baby items, we bought soy formula instead of our regular stuff. Saturday night we spent in and Sunday we got some laundry done. Today I gave Rob a call and had him put in a call to the pediatrician (for some reason, we didn't have his number anywhere around here). I wanted to know if we can switch back to his regular formula. While the soy stuff does have some bright sides (less burp gas, a bit less fussiness, and better formed stools) it also has some non-effects (he's still somewhat colicky and has a ton of fart gas and still seems uncomfortable with the gas) and some bad effects (granted, he's not spitting up after every meal anymore, but when he does spit up it's either projectile or vomiting everything he ate, he also is always hungry and wants to eat more and is ravenous every time he eats). I really don't like those negatives so I want to see if we should keep him on the soy for a few more days to see how it goes, or if 48 hours has been enough time and if we should take it off because of his extreme hunger and nasty bouts of throwing up. I hope to hear back somewhat soon because he threw up his last meal entirely and is going to want food soon. Right now he's being amazing and even though he's awake he's just chilling out in his bassinet and watching his mobile. ----------
