Baby TV And Good News On The Move

When my Mom was out here she started having Gabriel watch Teletubbies. *sigh* Now he loves it and tends to fuss around the time it's on if he's not watching it. He loves that show. I find it rather annoying and semi-creepy. I much prefer Sesame Street, which he also enjoys. I recently found a new network that rocks. It's called Baby First TV (call letters BABY and channel 293 on Directv) and it's 24 hour programming for babies. The daytime stuff is all educational and the nighttime stuff is to help soothe the baby to sleep. Now, I don't want my son watching TV all the time (I have a particular aversion to TV as it is), but since the programs are educational I'm cool with him watching some of it, especially when it helps him calm down. I just think it's cool that someone out there thought to make a TV channel for babies.

It seems when one thing ends, another begins. While I've been told that colic usually goes away by around three months (Gabriel will be three months on Thursday), he's now starting to teethe. So if he's not going to be crying from the colic anymore he'll probably be doing it from the teething. On the bright side, at least I know where it's coming from now. I don't know if this will keep up, but Rob and I found that a bit of Gripe Water (straight and not mixed into his bottle) was a big help last weekend.

Last night Rob and I stayed in. We ordered in Chinese, gamed, and did the usual baby stuff. There was one really cute point last night. Gabriel was throwing a fit while his Daddy was holding him so Rob gave him to me so he could go get the Gripe Water. The minute I took him he quieted down and began to coo at me (it's his way of talking and while I'm sure he knows what he's saying, I have no idea what anything other than "aloo" means). He cooed and babbled at me in baby talk for a good five minutes and then looked at Rob again and was ready to go back to him. Apparently he just really wanted to tell me something.

I just got some amazing news. Looks like there's a chance we'll be moving sooner rather than later. If everything pans out, we might even be out of here by the beginning of July! Rob spoke with one of the hospitals in the Milwaukee area and they have a job opening in HR. It's not exactly what he does, but it's pretty close. However, in speaking with the person at the hospital he found out that there will be an opening doing exactly what he does now in about a month and a half. How perfect is that? He sent his resume in and we'll see what happens. So far, things are looking good. The person seemed to be impressed both with his experience and with the fact that he would be coming from a major hospital in Los Angeles. If he gets this job offered to him we'll probaby spend the first weeks of June out in Wisconsin looking for a house or apartment and the second weeks of June packing up and moving cross country. The move itself is going to be a nightmare (especially the transfer of our bank accounts and finding new doctors for Gabriel and myself), but in the end it's going to be worth the hassle. I am so excited! We'll see what happens.
