2006-08-16 11:37 AM My First Baby Related Heart Attack Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Tired Read/Post Comments (1) Oy. Gabriel nearly gave me a heart attack yesterday. He was strapped into his bouncy seat and I went to the bathroom. Every other time I have done this, nothing bad happens. This time I come out of the bathroom and he's on his stomach on the floor! I have no idea how he got out of the bouncy seat and while it's low to the ground I knew he'd have taken a bit of a tumble to get to the floor. My heart jumps into my throat and I begin to worry if he's injured. I run over to him and pick him up and he's just smiling impishly at me. I told him he worried me half to death and he giggled. He then grinned impishly at me again. He was fine and thought the whole thing was funny. *sigh* I've got quite a handful here. Later on I wanted to see how he could get himself out of that seat. So I put him in the seat and went some place where I could see him, but he couldn't see me. He squirmed onto his stomach and pulled his legs out of the restraint. He then lowered his legs back down over the restraint and started trying to roll off of the seat. I got him before he got to the ground this time. I really think this kid is too smart for my own good. He's also begun to officially creep. He's not doing the soldier crawl that I know a lot of babies do, but he is getting forward motion by "worming". He moves like a worm does and is able to scoot himself forward. That, combined with his rolling ability, is making him mobile. *meeps* I'm so in for it. In other news, I've gotten smart. When I smell poopy coming from his diaper I now strip before picking him up. Almost all of the time the poop is oozing from the legs of his diaper (and if it's a monster poop sometimes it also oozes out of the front and the back of the diaper as well). When I pick him up I get that poop on me and I have to change outfits all the time. So, I've learned to just strip when he has a poop and it saves me an outfit change. Now if only I could find a way to save his outfit as well! And yes, he is wearing the proper size diaper. It's just that he poops in larger quantities than you could ever even imagine. Last night Rob and I stayed in. We were both exhausted and didn't want to cook so we ordered in Thai food. Bad idea. It messed with my stomach something fierce and I've been spending the night and this morning running to the bathroom in agony. We watched Miami Ink and Big Brother and gamed a bit. Gabriel was a bit better overnight last night. He went to sleep and woke up crying once. He got a bottle and went back to sleep about 45 minutes after he woke up. So, we actually managed to get some sleep last night. Rob and I are both still tired, but it's better than it was yesterday. Though while we only had to get up for the baby once, I was up many times last night due to that damned Thai food. *grumbles*. ----------
