2006-12-23 7:38 PM Seeing Santa Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Content Read/Post Comments (1) I slept in again today. My body needed it and even though I got sleep I'm still somewhat tired. I think part of it was the lack of sleep we got during the move and part of it is because I've been bleeding for the last 7 days and the blood loss is messing with my body something fierce. Once I got up I showered and got ready. While getting ready I made a call to the energy company because I noticed that they had spelled my last name wrong in the welcome letter. I also called the phone company to set up phone service in our new apartment. They gave us a tentative phone number (subject to change until the number is activated) and told me that we should have phone service starting on the morning of Friday December 29. I then called Earthlink to switch our DSL service over, but they can't do anything yet. Apparently I need to call them from the new number after the service has been activated. And it will take 3-6 weeks to set up the service! So, there's a good chance that once I leave my Mom's place I'll be without any internet access for a long time. I'm not okay with that. I told Earthlink that some of the work I do needs internet access and they're going to try and set me up with dial up for that time if possible. As much as I hate dial up (I'm on it now) it's better than nothing so I hope they manage to give me some sort of service while they're taking their sweet ass time to set up our DSL. Once we were ready to head out we headed into the main town area of Galena to see if there was a Santa Claus there. He had already gone home for the day when we got there so Rob called the Kennedy Mall in Dubuque to see if they had a mall Santa there. They did and he would be there until 8pm. So, we headed to the mall to see Santa. We were expecting parking to be near impossible since it's the last Saturday before Christmas, but there were a lot of spots available and we were able to get one right up by the door. We headed in and cut through Sears to get to the area of the mall where Santa was. We had two worries about Gabriel with Santa. One was that he would be scared of Santa and freak out and start crying or screaming. The other was that (because he likes to pull my hair and other people's hair) he would pull Santa's beard off. Neither of our fears came true. Gabriel was amazing when he got to sit on Santa's lap. He just sat there in awe smiling at Santa. They were able to get him to look at the camera easily and got a great picture after only two tries (the photographer said that it usually takes a long time to get a good baby picture with Santa). The picture is amazing. It's hard copy though so I can't post it on here. Santa told Gabriel that he would bring him toys tomorrow night and Gabriel seemed very happy about that. It was absolutely amazing bringing Gabriel to see Santa for the first time. If you have a kid, you know what I'm talking about. It was near magical and one of the coolest things I've ever done. Having a son is the absolute best thing in the world. I know for sure that having Gabriel is the best thing I've ever done in my entire life. After taking Gabriel to see Santa we headed over to Target to pick up a few more things for Gabriel and to get a Christmas present for Sydney. We're only doing Christmas for Gabriel this year and since it's his first one we want it to be great for him. I also figured it would be a good idea to get something for Sydney since he is my furbaby and since he's been put through a lot recently with the move (his details on the move have been posted on his Catster journal). From there we headed to The Ground Round for dinner (never order the grilled veggie wrap, it tastes like ass) and then headed back to my Mom's house. ----------
