After getting up this morning I showered, got ready, and we all headed out to the grocery store to pick up our Christmas dinner. It's one of those pre-cooked meals (like what Rob and I got for Thanksgiving) that you just need to heat up. We'll be having it for dinner tomorrow night, but needed to pick it up today because the grocery store won't be open tomorrow.
We headed back to my Mom's place and chilled out for a few hours after the grocery store run. We then headed into Dubuque to have our Christmas Eve dinner at House of China. Having Chinese food for our Christmas Eve dinner has kind of become a tradition when we're out at my Mom's place for Christmas. Usually it was at the one in Galena, but that has folded and so we go to the one that's still in Dubuque. It's a really good Chinese restaurant and my Mom is friends with the owners.
Dinner was great and when we were done we headed to the drive through light show in a park in Dubuque. It's something we try to do every year when we're here and I'm really glad we were able to do it this year. After the drive through light show we headed back to the area where my Mom lives and checked out a few houses that were all decked out for Christmas. After that we headed back to my Mom's place. Pretty soon we need to wrap up the remainder of Gabriel's presents. While we're not getting gifts for each other this year due to the time and financial constraints of the move, we are making sure Gabriel gets a metric asston of presents. Hey, he's a great boy and Santa knows it!
Oh, one thing I forgot to mention in yesterday's entry. I bit my tongue badly yesterday. Bad enough to take a chunk out of it. I needed to hold a tissue over it for a little bit because of the blood. There's no bleeding today, but it's nasty. It looks like a huge blood blister with white pustules on it. Soooo sick. I can't look at it, I'm going off of what my Mom and Rob said. I can't believe I managed to bite a chunk off of my own tongue! It hurts like hell and even today I'm having problems eating because of it.
