The Week From Hell

I'm chalking this week up to a lost week. So I have dubbed it the week from hell. Think fracturing my knee and having my mom be violently ill was bad? There's more.

Yesterday my aunt Pam came over to help me with Gabriel and my mom headed back home. I am so glad my aunt was here to help me! It was a huge thing to be able to take it easy and not hurt myself worse. She's such a sweetie to have been here. She took off when Gabriel took his nap and about an hour and a half later Rob got home from work. Gabriel napped the entire time from when she left until when Rob got home. So, yesterday wasn't all that bad for me.

Last night was a bit hectic and it was hard to get Gabriel to go to sleep. We watched Survivor and The Apprentice and LA Ink.

Late last night was when the suckage kicked in. We were woken up to the sound of Gabriel crying. He had thrown up all over himself and his bed. Once he was changed and his bed sheets were changed, he threw up again. And again. And again. Every 20 minutes or so throughout the night he threw up. One time he looked at Rob and said "daddy no". It was horrible to see my baby that sick. He also had some poopy problems as well.

Around 7am we put in a page to his pediatrician. They told us not to go to the ER at children's. There's a bad stomach bug going around the the children's ER was packed with parents who were freaking out. They said they opened at 8:30am and to be there then.

Because of my knee, Rob wanted me to stay at home for the trip to the pediatrician's. He told me that at one point they wanted to give him an IV with fluids and anti-nausea meds in it, but that Gabriel wouldn't sit still and allow a needle to be in his hand. They thought he could be distracted by watching a movie. They don't know how spastic Gabriel is. When the doctor first saw Gabriel and asked how he was feeling Gabriel took the binky out of his mouth and said "I frew up". Once he was able to hold some Pedialyte down, he was allowed to head home.

When Gabriel and Rob got home I was able to get Rob's aid with getting ready for the day. While watching Blue's Clues, Gabriel told Blue that he threw up. It's so sad to hear him say "I frew up".

Rob then headed off to work. He's been working at his new job for less than two months and has no vacation time. Yet he took off a few hours on Tuesday because of my knee, took off Wednesday all day, and had to take off this morning. He's very concerned about how this will effect his job and I don't blame him. But there's nothing else we could have done.

Taking care of a sick baby while only being able to use one leg and be on crutches is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. I pray that he doesn't get worse because I'm not allowed to drive. I would give anything to have some help here today. I've been doing far too much moving around and my knee pain is so bad that when I get up and move, I cry. That's saying something because I have a very high pain tolerance and it takes alot to get me to cry.

So far, he's held down half of a breadstick and a sippy cup of Pedialyte. I consider that a victory at this point.

Hopefully, Rob won't be too late coming home from work. We need some crackers and some more Pedialyte for Gabriel tonight.

This week blows big hairy sweaty goat balls.
