New Car For Rob

My Mom came into town on Tuesday afternoon. She spent some time at my Nana's and then headed over here. When Rob got home from work, she stayed at home with Gabriel while we headed over to the Lexus dealer.

To make a very long story short, Toyota (and we spoke with more than one dealer) pretty much worked to drive us off. They seriously actively worked to piss us off. They even told us if we don't buy a Rav4 from them that there are others who will! Fine, if you don't want our business, you don't get it.

Due to the wonderful experiences that both my Mom and I have had with the Lexus brand, the local dealer, and Jeff B., we decided to check out Lexus. The car was being paid for in cash with money that Rob received when his Grandmother Pernice passed away.

The time at the dealer that night went well. First, Rob drove the IS 250 (AWD version) because it's a cute little sports sedan and was one of the less expensive cars. He didn't like it. He didn't like the small backseat, the visibility, and a large hump that was on the driver's side and made it uncomfortable for his foot to be and stay on the gas pedal.

So, we decided to test drive the RX 350. I've had an RX 300 and now have the RX 400h. My Mom has the RX 350. I cannot say enough good things about these cars. He drove one and loved it. We discussed things and I told him that the inheritance was to *him*. He can buy a car with that money if he wants to. I also told him that I understand wanting a super nice well made car. I'm probably the last person in the world who would think poorly of someone buying a luxury car. He thought about if he wanted the navigation system or not and decided it would be worth the money.

When he decided he wanted the car (dark grey exterior, black interior) it was time to deal. That's where I came in. *beams*. I got the dealer to increase the offer on his trade in by $1500. I also got the $2000 discount deal that was for the 2008 models on a 2009 model. I even got him to drop an extra $1000 off by telling him if we did so, we'd do the contract that night. Rob got a really good deal on the car, and I knew he would. Especially since my Mom and I both got our cars from that dealership and from Jeff B.

We signed the paperwork and gave a $3000 deposit on the car. Everything else was going to happen on Wednesday.

After the dealer, we grabbed dinner to bring home from Chipotle (my Mom had never had it before) and watched Big Brother.

Rob took the day off of work on Wednesday. In the morning I had to take Sydney into the vet at 9am for a follow up appointment. Rob stayed at home with Gabriel and my Mom came along with me to the vet. The antibiotics seem to be working. The wound is healing up and the infection is gone. Yay!

When we got home, Rob and I cleaned his car out completely and then headed to the bank. We picked up the cashier's check and the title to his Toyota Camry. We then went to Wal*Mart to look for some padding to put under Gabriel's car seat, but they didn't have any. So, we headed to Target.

Target did have it. I also picked up some Dots, a box of chocolate truffles, and a thank you card for my Mom (she always comes in to town to watch Gabriel when we need it and I appreciate that more than I can ever even tell her). I also found two insulated cups with handles and straws that my Nana had been wanting.

From there we headed to the Lexus dealer. We handed over the keys to Rob's Camry, did all the paperwork, signed over the title, and handed them the check. The new car was all his.

Before we drove off the lot, Jeff B. went over all of the features on the car for Rob just like he did with me. When that was done with (and after Rob also got some roses for his new car purchase) we headed off. Woo-hoo!

Rob's new car is a 2009 Lexus RX 350. The color is called smokey granite (it's a super dark gray) and the interior is black leather and brown wood. It's really gorgeous. He's already named it Graz'zt (his Camry was named General Zod).

My old Lexus was named Lexus Luthor. I'm not completely sure what the name for my new one will be.

After the car dealer we grabbed lunch to bring home from Steak N Shake. The four of us ate lunch and then headed out to see my Nana. We spent some time with her (and sweltered, she kept her room at 83 degrees!) and then headed out.

My Mom needed to make a brief stop off at my Aunt Pam and Uncle Kim's house and then we decided to get dinner (take out) from Mitchell's Fish Market. When we got home that night I had a ton of laundry to do. I got four loads done and didn't stop until 11:30pm.

My Mom stayed around this morning and Rob went back to work. She headed out after lunch. She's going to spend some time with my Nana and then head back home.

She's only been gone for about an hour and a half and I already miss her. I can't wait until she's out here again, though I'm not sure when that will be.
