2008-12-04 10:51 AM Nana Update Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Worried Read/Post Comments (0) Nana's toe was looked at once more and apparently it's badly infected. The bone and even the marrow are infected with Stephylocoous Aureas. This means that the toe needs to be amputated. Surgery will probably be at some point next week. I'm worried because she's 96 years old and surgery for someone of that age is never a good thing. I just hope the docs are smart enough to use a spinal (like they did when she broke her hip) and not a general. General anesthesia is very bad for someone of her age. On the bright side, she seems to be in very good spirits over this. She asked the doctor what they would do with the removed toe and he said that they would do whatever she wanted with it. So, she asked if it could be made into a Christmas ornament. The funny, my Nana has it. Luckily, after the surgery she can go back to Sterling and not have to go to the Virginia yet again. As a side note, I probably won't be posting on here again until Tuesday. Rob has more days that he has to take off before the end of the year, and so he's taking Friday and Monday off of work so that we can have a long weekend and head to my Mom's place. She has super slow dial up on an old computer that I don't want to deal with unless I have to. Besides, it's nice not having to touch a computer for a few days. I'll post on the goings on out there when I get back. ----------
