The Birds Are Back

Most of the time I like having our balcony screened in. It means we can use our electric grill to grill out, even in the winter. It also means we can head onto the balcony in the winter and not get snowed on (or rained on at other times). There are only a few times I don't like it. One is in the summer when it fills with wasps, somehow they can get in but not out. The other is now, in early Spring, when the birds come back.

The first year we lived here, before it was screened in, some mourning doves (my favorite bird) came and nested on our balcony. It was amazing. They were friendly to us and let me see the eggs and the babies. However, now that the balcony is screened in, we can't have the birds come to nest on our balcony any more.

There's a tree right outside of our balcony and the birds are coming back to it. The tree isn't in bloom yet, but the mourning doves and other birds can be seen sitting on it some mornings. There are no nests there, it seems the birds just like to chill out there. Sydney likes to stare out the balcony window and buck at the birds. That's actually how I noticed them there the other morning.

Spring is definitely coming, the birds show that. I think I'm one of the few people who doesn't like the onset of Spring. I love the birds, but it also means warmer weather that I can't tolerate is on the way.

Wow, I'm shocked, a 13 Ghosts quiz... I didn't know there were many others who were aware of that movie.

Which ghost of the 13 are you?
The Withered Lover
You are a mother who've lived on the same road in the same, pleasant town all of your life. you have a great family, a nice job and a welcoming community with friends just around the corner. Tragedy hardly strikes in your part of town...but when one of your kids got ahold of some matches, ..well...tragedy struck. You were burnt a couple of times while you were trying to run out of the house but you couldn't get out, and you burned to death. Everyone was struck with grief. You are The Withered Lover.

Take the quiz!
