Last weekend was a blast, we spent it out at my Mom's house.

Friday, July 2

Rob had a half day at work. When he got home from work we packed, did what we needed to around the apartment, and took my car for a long drive so that it would (hopefully) start on the day we got back home. We headed out of the house around 3pm or so. The drive out there was nice and rather uneventful. We made one quick stop at a gas station so that we could use the bathroom. Gabriel picked up some Doritos for the ride, Rob got some chips as well, and I grabbed a diet Snapple.

We got to my Mom's place around 6pm or so. We unpacked, chilled out, and then had dinner. She had made caesar salad from scratch (including the dressing) and a whole wheat pasta seafood salad as well. Dinner was fantastic. As usual, no matter what he was offered, Gabriel refused to eat. How in the world do Rob and I end up with a kid that hates food (and loathes all meat as well)? I don't understand that.

We spent the rest of the night chilling out around her house and Gabriel was very happy that she has Nick Jr. (formerly Noggin).

Saturday, July 3

Rob and I got to sleep in a bit and it was nice. Once everyone was showered, dressed, and ready to go, we headed out to Galena. We made a stop in a few stores. I picked up a small Steiff teddy bear in Fairy Tales Too. Rob got some gourmet popcorn for all of us at the Great American Popcorn Company. My Mom and I went into Poopsies since sadly it's going to be closing down. I got a magnet, a jacket for Gabriel, and a framed cow painting. My Mom got a neat purse.

From there we headed to Walmart. We looked around a bit and Gabriel picked up a My Meeba for his toy. He doesn't like the fact that you have to play the game all the way through and evolve the critter six or more times before the lid opens and you get your plush. What a way to frustrate a four year old! So, Rob's giving him a hand with playing it. Still, they've only managed to evolve it once so far.

We then went back into the town of Galena and had dinner at Dirty Gurtz. Gabriel is always well behaved there and I love their burgers. Dinner was great and when we were finished, we headed back to my Mom's place for the night.

Sunday, July 4

Once again, Rob and I got to sleep in. Later on, when we were up and ready, we all headed in to Dubuque. We made a stop at a comic book store and picked up two Super Hero Squad, two Spiderman, and one Scooby Doo comic for Gabriel. We then headed to the mall.

At the mall we made a stop in Border's and got Gabriel two more of the Elephant and Piggie series of books. We also made a stop on Lens Crafters for me to get more wet glass wipes and for me to see if they had a pair of frames in stock that I had seen (and liked) online. They didn't. Sooner or later, I need a new pair of glasses. I know my lenses aren't strong enough anymore.

From there we drove around a bit and headed to The House of China for dinner. Dinner was excellent, as usual, and when we were done we headed back to my Mom's place for the night and got some laundry done.

Monday, July 5

We spent the morning getting ready and packing and a little before 1pm we headed out of my Mom's place. Gabriel was not happy about this. The drive home was filled with him freaking out that we were leaving Nana's House and him complaining. We stopped off at the gas station (it's about the mid-point in the trip) and Gabriel got some more Doritos. Rob got an energy drink and I got another diet Snapple. The drive home was rather uneventful.

When we got home we immediately tried to start my car - and it worked. I took it for a long drive and then we did our weekly grocery shopping at Pick N Save. When we got home we put the groceries away, unpacked, ordered in dinner, and gamed.

Today

Today, it's back to the normal stuff. Rob is off at work and I'm at home with Gabriel. I'm currently working on the laundry (our sheets), doing some stuff online, etc. Oh, I was able to get three resumes out in one day last Thursday (woot). We'll see if anything comes of them. I have my fingers crossed for a local (no city commute) criminal defense firm. Talk about a dream job!
