2010-07-26 9:04 AM Renaissance Faire (And Other Stuff) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Tired Read/Post Comments (4) Saturday we were thinking about heading to the county fair, but the weather was just too bad for it. It was hot and humid and way to uncomfortable to be outside in for an extended period of time. So, sad to say, we skipped on our county fair this year. We did get our weekly errands done on Saturday though. A Babies R Us run, a drug store run, and our weekly grocery shopping. We got take out from Olive Garden for dinner and just watched some TV on Discovery Health. Sunday we got up early and got ready to head down to the Bristol Renaissance Faire. It was less humid out and was supposed to be only in the high 70's and partly cloudy. Yet again, the Weather Channel lied to me. It ended up being in the mid to high 80's out and sunny. Ugh. We got there shortly before the doors opened and wandered around the whole Faire. Lunch was super yummy. Gabriel had mac and cheese bites, Rob had some steak on a stick and a chocolate chip muffin, and I had some mushrooms and a pork chop on a stick. I was also able to find some of the diet sassafras. Yum! I ended up buying two small hand sculpted "dragon pigs" (one in light purple and the other in red) and Rob bought me a black iron rose. We got Gabriel a foam sword and he LOVES it. He's also super happy the handle is orange, which is his current favorite color. Gabriel got to see the Spider Fairy again and not only did he remember her, but she remembered him. I told her that he's remembered her every year, since the time he was 1. She gestured that she always remembers him as well and when she first saw him this time, she looked super happy to see him. I think he's got a crush on her. The weather started becoming unbearably hot (especially with the crowd of people and constant sun) and I kept getting bit by biting flies (damn those hurt). At least my bug wrist band kept the mosquitoes away. Normally, I'm a happy meal on feet for them. We headed out after about two and a half hours because it was just too hot and sunny out. On our way home we stopped off at Bobby Nelson's and got some food to bring home with us. We got some of their jalapeno and regular bratwurst, some horseradish Havarti cheese, and some hot pepper string cheese. We also made a stop at A&W to get some root beer floats. When we got back to our neck of the woods, we stopped off at the grocery store to get a few extra things for dinner. Beer and an onion to boil the bratwurst in, some hot dog buns, and some stone ground mustard. When we got home, the first thing I did was take a shower. I felt so grimy from the Faire and my sunscreen made me all sticky. The shower felt amazing. After that I took my car for a run and we cooked bratwurst for dinner. Gabriel hates meat, so we made him some Sponge Bob mac and cheese for his dinner. After dinner we did some gaming and watched Big Brother. ----------
