I was out driving my car today to make a run to and from the bank, when my "Maintenance Required" notification came on. Apparently, Lexus has found the way to make the most annoying notification possible.

A bright red exclamation point comes up along with a loud beep (which at first leads you to believe that there's something actually wrong with the car). Then, the words MAINT REQD comes up in the area where I normally see if my car is using battery or engine power and where the odometer is. So, I can't see that anymore. If that's not enough to annoy, there's also the beeping that happens every few minutes.

The most annoying thing about all of this? Maintenance is NOT due until next month. I don't drive a lot so I go by time and not miles. I have not driven 5000 miles since my last appointment and it hasn't been 6 months. So, for some reason, the car thinks it's time and it's not. WTF?

I put a call into the service guy I normally use at the dealer to see if there's any way I can turn it off. If not, I want to see if I can get in sometime tomorrow to have them turn it off. I don't want to have to deal with this for the next month. Oy.
