Rob had a half day on Wednesday and then both Thursday and Friday off for New Years. So, like most years, we headed to my Mom's house for the holiday weekend.

Wednesday: Rob worked from home in the morning and then had the afternoon off. Since we were heading to my Mom's house, we decided to get our normal weekend errands done early. And so we did our grocery shopping that afternoon before picking Gabriel up from pre-school.

Thursday: We packed and got ready to head out. We headed out around 12:30pm. The ride to my Mom's place was thankfully uneventful. We grabbed lunch at Wendy's on the way there and got to her place a little before 4pm. Once there, we unpacked and then headed out to dinner. Dinner was had at Los Aztecas, I really like that place. After dinner we headed back to my Mom's place.

Friday: Rob and I both got to sleep in. It was nice. Once we were up and ready, we headed out. Our first stop was at Walmart. After that, we all headed into Dubuque for the day. We made a stop at Kohl's and a comic book store and then at Borders. I got a ton of books at Borders. I've been reading a lot lately (1-2 books a week) and they had a whole bunch of ones that I was looking for. We had dinner at House of China (fantastic as usual) and then headed back to my Mom's place for the night. I had brought some card games with me and every night we were there we had a lot of fun with the Littlest Pet Shop version of Go Fish and with Uno. We also realized that Old Maid was boring. We had some champagne (I don't drink much so I only had one glass) and bemoaned the loss of Discovery Health. I hate you Oprah.

Saturday: We spent most of Saturday as a lazy day of sleeping in and lazing around the house. It was nice. When we did head out, we headed to downtown Galena. I made a run into a store that used to have some really cool things, but they seemed to change what they carry. Rob ran in to the popcorn shop and got some popcorn. We then had dinner at Durty Gurtz. Gabriel really likes that place. Unfortunately, while we were there a large group of obnoxious (and probably drunk) people came in. Ugh, it was like trying to eat in the same restaurant as the cast of Jersey Shore. After dinner we headed back to my Mom's place for the night.

Sunday: We spent the morning packing and getting ready and headed out of my Mom's house around noon. I slept a lot of the way home and we only made one stop off at a gas station for us all to use the bathroom. When we got home I took my car for a spin and then we headed to Long John Silver's to get takeout for dinner. Nothing was on TV, and so we watched our Netflix rental of Eclipse Wow, that was boring. Now we're back and our weekday schedule is back to normal. I miss being out at my Mom's place.
