Headed out to my Mom's place for some rest and relaxation on the fourth of July weekend. Had a great time and I'm not happy to be home and back to the same old schedule.

Friday Rob had a half day at work, but was able to work from home. When we were close to being ready to leave, we picked Gabriel up from preschool early, grabbed some lunch from Wendy's, and then headed out. We left our place around 1:45pm and got to my Mom's place after 5pm. Once there, we headed out to get dinner at Los Aztecas and then headed back to her place for the night.

Saturday was our day in Dubuque. Before heading out there we grabbed lunch at Culver's and made a Walmart run (I got my Mom a frog pillow pet for her back - Rob named it Lumpy the Lumbar Frog). In Dubuque Rob ran into a comic book store and grabbed some comics for Gabriel and found me one of the original Castle Ravenloft modules. Sweet. Mom and Rob made a run into Borders and Rob was able to find the latest Elephant and Piggie book - "Should I Share My Ice Cream?". Gabriel was super happy to get that. We had Chinese food for dinner at House of China and made a quick stop at the Galena popcorn shop for some bags of popcorn before heading back to my Mom's place for the night. My Mom is a fan of the Final Destination movies, but had never seen part four. So, I had brought the DVD with me and we watched that. I can't wait until part five comes out in August.

Sunday we spent most of the day around the house. We made a quick Walmart run to see if they had the nap mats that our Kindergarten requires (they told us we could pick one up at Walmart), but they didn't have anything even close. We then grabbed dinner at Durty Gurtz, which is one of Gabriel's favorite places to eat. We spent the rest of the night at my Mom's place.

Monday we headed back home. We had a bit of a problem when one of the freeways was closed due to a really bad accident, but we were able to get directions from a local gas station and made it home just fine. Unfortunately, when we got home it was 75 in here even though the air was set to 73. Last night, it just kept climbing and at one point was at 77 even though I had set it to 69. We checked the filter and vacuumed the area around it and still have problems. So, we put in a call to our apartment manager.

Today our air conditioner is still having some problems and we're waiting for someone to come and check the freon/coolant levels.
