Yesterday Rob and I spontaneously decided to ditch what we needed to be doing and spend the day together. He skipped work and the meetings he needed to go to and I skipped volunteering at Gabriel's school. We rarely get any time alone together, so we decided very last minute to take the day for ourselves. We also did this because yesterday was our ninth wedding anniversary.

We had decided not to do presents for our anniversary, but because Rob was willing to give me the gift of his time on a day when he had a lot to do at work, I gave him one of his birthday presents that I already had here as an anniversary present. It was the retiring Squishable pelican. He seemed to like it a lot and later that night so did Gabriel. He named it Mike.

While Rob took Gabriel to school in the morning, I used that time to get ready. When he got home we headed out for brunch at the Pancake House. Granted, we do go there with Gabriel sometimes, but we've never been there as just the two of us.

After breakfast we headed back home and did some other things that we can't do when Gabriel is around. We then took a bit of a nap before heading out to pick Gabriel up from school.

All in all, it was a very good day. Later on we got Chinese food takeout and watched a marathon of Jail on Spike while dealing with a computer issue.
