2013-08-11 6:22 PM Sydney's Trip to the ER Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Worried Read/Post Comments (0) Yesterday Sydney was vomiting a lot. Every time he tried to eat, he would throw up that food. Every time he tried to drink, he would throw up that liquid. He was getting semi-lethargic, walking oddly, and was dehydrated. So, it was off to the animal ER. We took him to the same vet that sees our sugar gliders, Dr. Gordon, who is an absolutely amazing vet.
He had a large bowel obstruction (which is common with renal failure) that was removed, was given a sac of water, and was given anti-nausea medication. We also found out that he's now a 1 on the weight scale. He's considered emaciated. He was a 2 (underweight) before this mess. He doesn't want to eat today, but he needs to. Not only for the weight, but also to keep on pooping. He hasn't pooped yet today, but he has leaked a little. He is drinking and holding down water, so at least that's something good. He's spending most of his time sleeping up in the loft and only was in bed with me for a bit this morning. This is odd for him, normally he's with me (sleeping on my chest) pretty much all night. I'm calling his regular vet tomorrow and will try and get him in and maybe get him on some anti-constipation medication. The whole combination of the renal failure, his weight, and this constipation has me very concerned. He's always been a tiny kitty and underweight, but because he's so small he had nothing left to lose when he couldn't eat and has gotten crazy skinny in the last day or two. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
