So I have now been here for over a week. We have a lease for 16 months to decide how much we do or do not like it here. Then, well, who knows? For now we try out all the new restaurants, check out the sites of local interest, and invite everyone we know to come and visit. I have been told there is a lot to see and do here, camping, hiking, arts and entertainment. And when we get bored with that, just drive south and go to Houston or San Antonio. Flights there are very cheap from here. And the 6 Flags is only 45 minutes away!

One of the points that I have already learned is that I need to have tornado provisions. Several people have advised me that I need to have candles, battery operated radio and several gallons of water. Just in case. I am cautiously curious about this whole severe weather thing.

Today I have a bit of a headache, so I am resting and reading. I went for a walk earlier today, it is perfect weather for brisk exercise. Cool but not cold. Like early fall in New York. I will be making dinner for my hosts, probably just munchie food to eat while they watch the football game, maybe taco meat with salsa and chips.

Later that evening…I still have a sinus headache, I am convinced that I never want a dog. The allergies are just too much. I made dinner and then watched Iron Chef. Not good for the cooking ego, but fun regardless.
