2005-03-05 3:21 PM Jade's first trip to Disney We are back from WDW. Wow what a trip! I am sure Paul will post some pictures later, right now we are both just chilling and resting a bit. (ok, I am chilling, Paul is chasing Jade around, as she is a bit...energetic after our flight.) I am already logged on to WOW. Not really playing, but just logged in.
Ok, highlights from the trip. Saturday - the flight - The flight was uneventful, but Jade was a bit restless and edgy. Not her best behavior. Met Mom at the airport, grabbed some dinner and groceries and spent the rest of the evening at the condo. Sunday - rainy day #1 - As the weather was very uncooperative, we did not go to the parks on Sunday, went to Downtown Disnty instead to do some shopping. Actually a very nice setup, and I had a lot of fun looking through the shops. Monday - Magic Kingdom - Jade had a blast here. Lots to see and do. She met a bunch of characters. At first she would not go to them, a bit shy or unsure, but by the end of the trip she was running right to them and hugging them. Very cute. The park closed at 7, and we stayed for the fireworks. Jade LOVED it! She was fascinated by the lights and music, and the loud banging noises didn't bother her at all. Tuesday - Epcot - Not enough time in a week to see all we wanted to in Epcot. Jade didn't do as well in Epcot. She was tired and cranky for a bit of the day. Too much in too little time I think. There was one really fun show, "Turtle Talk." Using Crush the turtle from "Finding Nemo." It was an animated screen character that talked to the audience. The kids would ask questions and Crush would give answers. He used the word "dude" so much that Jade is now saying it. It was a great show. It was really interesting to see how well Crush interacted with the kids and adults in the room. It would be really cool to see how they did it. We stayed for the fireworks show and again, Jade was thrilled. Wednesday - SeaWorld - Oddly, Jade loved the birds. She was enthralled by the orca show, loved watching the fish, but really loved the birds. Actually, in Magic Kingdom we spent a bit of time feeding the birds. They would come and eat right out of your hand. Needless to say, Jade thought that was really great. SeaWorld has a really great coaster. Kracken. 7 loops, goes underground for a bit, very nice. Unfortunately the dolphins and turtle shows were not open that day, but we did see a really great bird show. They had all kinds of birds and had them flying over the crowd and around the stadium. Thursday - Very wet and rainy day! We went to Animal Kingdom. I was expecting it to be a bit boring, all the people I talked to said it wasn't very good, but I thought it was a lot of fun. There were a lot of birds... They are building a really cool looking roller coaster there tool. We got some "in construction" pictures of it and will post at a later date. This park was the one where the hurricane damage was most noticable. The park closed at 5, so we went back to Epcot for dinner and planned on the fireworks, but it was too cold! We ate and went back to the condo to warm up and dry off. Friday - MGM - Sunny again, and off to MGM. We hit the Tower of Terror early, no real lines in any of the parks all week. The ride has changed a bit since our last visit, and it was a lot of fun. Also got to ride the Rock n roller coaster. That was a great coaster. Love the way it was set up, although it was a bit short. The funniest thing was the Great Movie Ride. There is a section where the gansters start a shootout, and Jade was actually startled by it. I think that was the first thing that actually came close to scaring here, but she still seemed to enjoy it. Paul and I had dinner at the Brown Derby, and then caught up with Mom and Jade after Fantasmic. Then off to the condo to pack for the trip home. Today - up early to finish packing and get to the airport. Jade fell asleep on takeoff and woke up about 1/2 an hour before landing. Very uneventful trip, although the in-flight movie was The Incredibles. So all in all a very nice vacation. Happy birthday to Paul and Happy 10 year anniversary to us.
